Giving Back > Volunteers
The National Kidney Foundation of Georgia presents several different programs throughout the year targeted toward the prevention, treatment and ultimate cure of kidney and urinary tract diseases. Some of these are ongoing programs while others are annual events. We are tremendously grateful for the work of all our volunteers and depend on their assistance for our programs to be a success.

We welcome any newcomers who would like to add their time to the cause. Volunteers are asked to complete a short volunteer training program on the National Kidney Foundation of Georgia and its goals, as well as about the basic facts about kidney
disease, its treatment, and prevention.

Kidney Walk
The Kidney Walk is a annual non-competitive fund raising walk that focuses on education about the prevention of kidney disease and organ donation. Energetic volunteers are needed to serve on several pre-walk steering committees and throughout the day of the walk. Committee members coordinate the event, solicit corporate sponsors, recruit walkers and coordinate and manage the Dialysis Center Challenges. Walk day volunteers would help man the check-in and registration area, course monitors, first aid stations, water stations, t-shirt distribution, pre & post data entry help, and wellness tent volunteers.

Health Fairs
Volunteers assist at health fairs throughout metro Atlanta and the state of Georgia. Volunteers distribute information and answer basic questions about kidney disease. Information is also provided to answer questions about organ donation.

Gift of Life Gala
Volunteers serve on the planning committee for the Gift of Life Gala. This black-tie event emphasizes the importance of organ donation while raising funds for the National Kidney Foundation of Georgia.

Camp Independence
A week-long summer camp for kids with kidney disease. More than 100 volunteers are needed to make this a wonderful experience for the 125 children who attend. Volunteers may serve as counselors for the entire week or can donate their time and talents for an afternoon or a couple of days to teach children a skill or a craft, or to help with different planned activities.

Visit the Camp Independence volunteer page.

Cadillac Invitational Golf Tournament

Committee members coordinate the event, solicit corporate sponsors and recruit golfers.  Volunteers also serve on the committee planning the event. Volunteers assist on the day of the event to register the golfers, serve as scorekeepers, and observe play, to help ensure that the tournament runs smoothly.

K.E.E.P
The Kidney Early Evaluation Program is an early detection and intervention program for people at increased risk of kidney disease.

Team Georgia
This group of transplant recipients works throughout the year to maintain wellness and promote organ donation and transplantation. Every two years this group competes in the Olympic-style Transplant Games. Team Georgia is open to all organ transplant recipients of all ages.

Kidney Cars
This is one of the NKFG's largest fundraisers. Individuals may donate unwanted vehicles to the NKFG. NKFG will tow these cars away for free, and the individual may qualify for a tax deduction. The result? NKFG raises needed funds for its many programs. One important and easy way for you to help the National Kidney Foundation is to tell friends and coworkersabout this great program.
